Florianfilm GmbH in Cologne has been successfully producing films for both public television and other selected private broadcasters in Germany and Europe since it was founded in 2001. Our work has focussed from the very beginning on producing creative documentary film. During the past few years interest in our work has increased immensely – not only due to the interest of stations such as ARTE where we have produced several theme evenings – but also due to our well-researched and formally outstanding documentary series. We concern ourselves with a wide range of projects covering a diverse range of cultural themes. We develop and produce a creative assortment of films ranging from high-culture to sociological themes and from the serious to the entertaining – from Doris Day to Johannes Calvin in fact.
Our team has managed to position itself clearly and firmly within the European documentary film market. Since 2004, we have been invited and represented with at least one project at international co-production meetings and pitchings – from the Discovery Campus Master School in Leipzig to the Forum of the IDFA in Amsterdam, to internal pitches at the EBU as well as at the TDF at Hotdocs in Toronto and the Meetmarket in Sheffield, England. As a rule we are always able to gain the enthusiasm of the same commissioning editors from the same stations – both nationally and internationally. The fact that these broadcasting stations are the most eminent and qualitative in Europe makes us feel especially proud and happy.
